He was bornin 1964,andgained admission to the Department of Physics,Shandong Universityin 1980. He receivedmaster’sdegree in 1987 and thenbegan workingattheUniversity.In February 1994, he earned his PhD at Freie Universität Berlin and obtained a position at the department later as a full-time teaching assistant. He returned to work at Shandong University since January 1997 and became professor and doctoral supervisor in 1998. He served as deputydeanof the School of Physics between 2001 and 2007 and dean of the Department of Space Science and Applied Physics, Weihai Campus between 2003 and 2007. During the period of 2008 and 2012, hewasappointedtothe dean ofboth the School of Physics and the School of Space Science and Physics.

The direction of his research isthe theory of particlephysics. As of now, he has publishedover100 papers inreputableacademic journals and conferencesin China and overseas.In 1999, he wonfirst-classprizeinthe first Chenguang Cup Youth Excellent Academic PaperContest hostedby the High Energy Physics Branch of the Chinese Physical Society. In 2001, he was awarded second-class prizein theChineseUniversity Science and Technology Awardsofthe Ministry of Education with his research project, “TheStrongInteractionProperties in theTransitionRegionbetween thePerturbative andNon-perturbative regions”.He received the Cross-Century Excellent TalentsFundofthe Ministry of Educationin 2002andaccepted the specialallowance from the State Council in 2004. Hewas awardedthe National Science Fundfor Distinguished Young Scholars in 2005 and was appointed as Chang Jiang Scholar in 2009.
